Josep Fàbrega (?-1791)

The work of Josep Fàbrega is important within the context of catalan music as Fàbrega is the most prolific of the first generation of catalan composers writing symphonies, a group of musicians who, around 1760 or even before, assimilated the style of classicism and began writing overtures and symphonies. Their symphonic style fits perfectly within the italian roots of the classicism: works in three movements, the second frecuently in a minor key, a gallant style, omnipresence of sonata scheme in the fast movements and use of the binay form in the central parts.
